Hello, and welcome to Corrupted Existence! We hope that you'll join in our craziness, have a lot of fun, and enjoy your time here with us! That said, there are of course some rules, so that all members here on the site can have fun as well, and to make sure that everyone is respected and feels as such. To that end, these are the rules for the site, broken down into appropriate sections. Please make sure to read all rules before registering and starting on your character!
________________________________________________________________________
Main Rules
1) Corrupted Existence is considered a PG-13 site with some content which may be unsuitable for younger RP-ers. Because this site does involve crime scenes and the like, depictions of violence/some gore are going to happen. When it comes to fighting however, please try to avoid unnecessarily gory or intense violence. Language is mostly fair game within the threads, but excessive cursing (i.e. why in god's name do you need to say "fuck" every other word) will not be tolerated. With regards to sexual content, some is permissible such as kissing, fondling, and so forth. But graphic depictions of either nudity or sex are not acceptable. If it looks like a thread is headed in this direction, the thread should then conclude in a way that insinuates what is happening without describing any of the activities taking place. Any threads which do not follow this rule, especially the part concerning sexual content, will be deleted.
2) At all times, members must show respect to one another. Whether it's in the threads or the cbox, I will not have name-calling (which is serious and meant to be insulting), heated arguments or general disrespect. As with god-modding and auto-hitting, I take this very seriously. You will receive one warning if I or a mod sees you doing it, and then action *will* be taken. This is especially applicable to the staff. We are here for the sole purpose of helping and keeping things friendly, fun, and orderly and should be respected as such.
3) In the cbox, please do not spam, and try to keep cursing, profanity, or anything of that type to a minimum. We are all adults here, but it can be disturbing and insulting to other members, and in accordance with rule #2, that's unacceptable. With regards to profanity and the like, myself and the moderators do have the right and ability to ban you from the cbox, and will do it if it begins to become ridiculous or it makes a member uncomfortable. With regards to spamming, the cbox itself will auto-ban you after a certain point, so that's that.
4) This site has no character limit, you may create as many as you wish. Please make sure that you stay active with whatever characters you create. Also, make sure not to create more characters than you can keep up with. Any character account which has not been active (a.k.a made any posts or been present on the site) for more than two weeks will receive a message from the staff, asking them to confirm whether or not they would like to remain active. Accounts which do not respond to this message will have their app deleted, unless that account is the only one that a particular member has. In addition, if you intend to take a leave of absence, meaning you'll be leaving the site for a determined or undetermined amount of time, please let us know in the appropriate board, so that we can make sure to save your apps and such. (Or delete them if you do not intend to return.) In regards to having one account, you are required to post at least once every week or so. If you do not, then a similar message will be sent. You may or may not be locked out of the IC box, and if you do not reply or post, then your character is in danger of being terminated from the World. ________________________________________________________________________
Posting Rules
1) Corrupted Existence does not have a word count requirement. All we ask is that you post enough substance such that your posting partner has enough material to make a sizeable response.
2) We ask that you as members be as literate as possible with your posts. What we mean by that is that you try to use appropriate sentence and paragraph structure, as well as proper grammar and spelling to the best of your ability. This makes it easier for members to understand what you're writing and eliminates hassle for people responding to your posts. This of course does not mean that minor spelling errors or the occasional slip up in grammar or structure is unacceptable. We just ask that you do your best and be consistent.
3) There will be no god-modding or auto-hitting between characters. This is a very strictly enforced rule. If you are seen doing it in threads, you will receive *one* warning from myself or a moderator. If you are seen doing it again, there will be repercussions.
- What is God-Modding? God-Modding is a situation in which a character is played as if they know information in thread that they could not possibly know within their character. As a very simple example, let's say that Character #1 has entered a bank with the intention of robbing it, and Character #2 is in that bank. Chances are that Character #2 is not privy to this information. Unless he has some kind of clairvoyant ability, or a preternatural danger sense, there is no reason he should suddenly get a "bad feeling," and leave. Doing so is god-modding. It is also considered god-modding when one RP-er takes control of another RP-er's character without his or her permission.
- What is Auto-Hitting? Auto-Hitting is of course much more simple to explain than god-modding. Auto-Hitting is any combat situation in which an attacking character simply assumes that his attack was successful, without giving the character being attacked a chance to respond. Example: "Jimmy threw a punch at John, breaking his jaw and knocking him to the ground." This is not acceptable, because John did not have a chance to react either to the punch hitting him or it knocking him to the ground. An acceptable way to write this action would be: "Jimmy threw a punch at John, aiming to break his jaw and knock him to the ground." This gives John a chance to avoid the attack or react in whatever manner he feels appropriate.

Character Creation Rules
1) Faceclaims for Corrupted Existence can be either anime or real-life celebrities, depending on your preference. However, be aware that because of the nature of the site, any real-life FCs must be 17 years of age or older, and the picture used must reasonably reflect the age of the character. Please make sure that once your character is accepted you post in the face claim thread, so that we can keep track of who is taken and who is not.
2) As stated in the magic explanation thread, found here, only humans may choose to use one of the three paths of magic. Conversely, only Supernatural characters may use skills.
3) When you create your character, you will choose three skills/spells to give him or her to use. The list of skills and spells which you may give your character to start can be found in a thread the character creation board, here. Created spells are not something that you character will be able to use right away. As you post with your character and earn PC, you will have the opportunity to unlock created spells, and add them to your character repertoire.
4) What is PC? PC stands for Post Credits, which is essentially the number of posts that you have made here on Corrupted Existence with your characters. As you post, no matter where it is on the site, you post count will climb and with it, your PC. In the PC store, you can redeem this PC to buy more spells for your character, and even the rights to create a spell within the branch of magic that your character uses. For supernaturals, you can buy more skills, and even enhance certain aspects of a character. As an example for 10 PC, or 10 posts, you can buy a new sigil spell for your character either from the list found in the character creation board or created by yourself. The PC store, which contains the full list of items that can be purchased at present, can be found here. (to be linked soon) Lastly and most important, PC is non-transferrable between accounts. In other words, the PC accrued under one character account can only be used for THAT character account. Please keep this in mind when visiting the PC store.
5) At present, we do not allow hybrid/half-breed characters, and thus when creating your character you may choose one of the races for he or she to be a part of: vampire, lycanthrope, zoanthrope, or human. A thread which contains descriptions of each race as well as their strengths and weaknesses can be found in the character creation board, here. (to be linked soon)
6) If you have anything extremely special or unique in mind for your character, please let us know and either message myself or a member of the staff. We do support creativity, but must make sure that all ideas fall in line with the general premise of the site. We would hate to have you put hard work into an application, only to be let down and denied because the idea is not acceptable.
7) Lastly but most important, PLEASE follow the character application found in the character creation board to a tee. Copy/paste the code provided and follow it. Do not modify or change the code, as this will result in your character being denied.
I DO NOT WANT TO BE SUPERNATURAL OR MAGICALLY INCLINED!!!
If this just so happens to be you, then you are in luck! This is the exact section you would read to make a character that is....well....human. Nothing but that. There are a few perks to being a human, such as the fact your character has the ability to choose what to do with itself past being human. RP your way into Vampirism? OK! RP your way into being eaten by a werewolf? OK! Additionally, as you hold your normal Human status, you get a discount in the Posting Credit store! Every item will be reduced in price by 1/3 the total. There are a few rules to abide by when creating a basic human that you should know as well:
- Under the section where spells and abilities are listed, you will instead choose three skills that any human can have. They are up to your imagination, but will be called out if they are a little too far-fetched. Whether it be marksmanship, judo master, or Twister Champion its all up to you. A example section of the application will be posted lower in this section of rules.
- If you do indeed decide to elevate your character to supernatural status, you may do so, but only after posting with said character 20 times before transformation. You must also RP the Transformation in thread.
- When elevating your characters status, you inherit two of the three skills your changer has. The third is of your choosing from the original list that all supernaturals start off with.
EXAMPLE
Spells & Abilities
- Enhanced Agility (parkour skills/reflexes ect)
- Heightened Intellect
- Olympic Class Collegiate Wrestleing
