Branton Applegate
20 • November 16th, 1996 • Male • Human • Spellweaver • Magician
Brown Hair • Green Eyes • 5'11 • 149
Appearance,
Branton is often described as a very handsome young man, with more soft features than anything extremely rough. Even though his body build leans more toward the slim side he is not without muscle. While he might not be exactly bulging, or chiseled with muscle, he does have a tone physique. He skin is a light tan cover, and his moon is on his left shoulder blade. A brunette since birth Branton has gone through various hair styles throughout the years. Nearly all of them having been done by his own two hands. Causing his hair to become choppy, strangely layered, and slightly longer on top than on the sides, or in the back. Underneath his uneven bangs are a pair of bright emerald eyes. Below that is a structured nose with a pair of thin lips, light red in color.
For one reason, or another Branton likes to keep his style fairy simple. Rarely stepping outside of his comfort zone of a black t-shirt. Although, even when he does he tries to keep it as dark as possible. Normally on top of this he wears his signature black jacket with it's white hood normally resting on his upper back. As for pants he tries to keep it to the cargo, or jeans genre as much as possible. To finish it off it's pretty much just a pair of black combat boots.

Spells and Abilities,
Flametongue - A spell which is used to create a tongue of fire to lash out and deal damage. The fire created can be large or small, red to white hot, depending on the amount of life energy that the caster voluntarily uses to cast the spell. Being that the spell draws from the life energy of the caster, he or she must be careful not to overextend themselves and cast it too often or with too much power, lest they knock themselves out or worse. In addition once unleashed, this spell is unbiased in its destruction, which means it puts both the caster and any allies in danger as well if uncontrolled. The incantation for this spell is as follows: "Ore draconis, adolebit terram." (Tongue of the dragon, scorch the earth.)
Elemental Weapon - This is a spell which allows the caster to bend any of the four major elements (earth, water, wind or fire) which are present in the environment around them into a physical form, specifically a weapon. The caster can form the element in question into whatever weapon they wish, so long as they have seen it before or can within reasonable detail envision it in their mind. The weapon created will be able to crush or cut as it would normally be able to, in addition to having the qualities of the element that it is made out of. As an example, a sword formed of fire could burn things as well as cut them. The longer the weapon is maintained, the more energy it saps from the caster of the spell. In addition, when the weapon is blocked or clashes with another weapon, this drains some additional energy from the caster. The weapon itself can only take a limited amount of damage before it breaks. If the weapon breaks in this way, it takes a great toll on the caster, and puts him or her in danger of being knocked unconscious. The incantation for this spell is as follows: "Factus mucro, naturae viribus." (Forces of nature, become my blade.)
Wind Blast - A spell which gathers wind before the user and blasts it outwards at a target to push them away and deal damage. Similar to most combat spellweaving magic, the size of the air blast can be increased by the caster if they sacrifice more of their life energy in the casting of the spell. Once released, at an additional sacrifice of energy, the caster can alter the trajectory of the wind blast, allowing them to take temporary control of the attack. This however requires concentration and is tiring if done for extended periods. The incantation for this spell is as follows: "Magnum ventus, pulsum hostis." (Mighty wind, strike my foe.)

Personality,
When people think of a magician the first thought that pops into their heads is an image of a silly little man in a stupid outfit pulling a rabbit from a hat. All the while wearing some kind of amazed expression on his face. In the case of Branton Applegate, this wasn't it. Most people think that they have figured him out. But, as it would turn out, he is a hard difficult man to predict.
Branton, on the surface, is a dishonest man trying to live his dishonest magician life. This is because he thoroughly believes that a dishonest man can be always trusted to be dishonest. While, it was the honest ones that needed to be watched out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly stupid. However, almost comically, Branton will claimed to be a man of his word, and often expressed surprise that people doubt his truthfulness. Although, they are times where Branton will be incredibility blunt, but will have hiden the message behind confusing words and gestures.
Even at young age, Branton was a huge troublemaker. Mischievous by nature, and a trickster at heart he often has used lured people to watch his performance. Only to use a cheap trick to pick their wallets while they were distracted, and quickly disappeared before they had noticed. Combing this with what he charges to watch him preform one would think he is nothing more than a swindler, but he doesn't like being called that. He'd rather see it as an extra bit of the show that he had forgotten to mention. On top of this, Branton seems to be a carefree character, rarely serious and always with a smug smirk on his face.
Branton Applegate has been noted for his unusual demeanor, characterized by a slightly unbalanced stagger and for walking a fine line between piratical genius and mercurial madness. Using normally deemed insane, or mad methods to combat enemies or make an escape. Having caused some people to question wither he plans it out in advance, or just makes it all up as he goes. Average in height and build, Branton relies more on intelligence, agility, and quick wit to protect himself, rather than physical strength. Though, he never goes into a fight if he didn't have to, and always takes a shortcut out of tough situations. He frequently outmaneuvers enemies with his words but when forced to fight he is still a formidable opponent.
However, very deep down, Branton is a good person. As a dishonest magician, he is a decent, if not self-serving, man who adhered to a moral code. Unusually altruistic for someone who lives in the city, Branton will risk himself to save others, and regularly showed a desire to avoid killing those who did not specifically wish him harm, preferring to avoid supernaturals who were simply after him because he is a human rather than because they had some specific vendetta against him. As often as he saves people, he is not above tricking them to serve his own purpose.
History,
Branton was born on November sixteenth within the walls of Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix Arizona. He was the first born child of a very young mother[(Only fifteen)Kayla] and father[(Seventeen)Steven]. His father was forced to get a job shortly after his birth to supply for his new family, but after two years Kayla's parents have had enough of crying babies, and kicked the young parents out. Faced with the cold reality that they were alone they were had to quickly adept. Moving into the first cheap apartment they could find the family barely lived paycheck to paycheck, sometimes going to bed hungry. They lived this way for the next three years until Kayla and Stevens could not take it anymore.
Not wanting to deal with the embarrassment of putting their child up for adoption, they formulated a plan. They would pretend to take Branton to the park, and after some walking around they would tell him to wait by a bench for them to come back. Expect, they never did. Leaving Branton to wait for them to return by himself for the entire day and the following two. On the third day he suffered from a heat stroke, and passed out shortly after. Luckily, or not he was found and taken in by a group of performers of roaming group of street performers who saved him before any severe damage was done.
Left an orphaned with no where else to go, Branton took to the group. Having decided to live under their care, and grow up to become one of them. Under their tutelage he learned many different ways to entertain, speak, even basic reading and math skills. But most importantly he learned how to exploit people, and scam the simple-minded. However, among these skill sets there was a certain one that captivated him. Magic, not to be confused with the glamour sort, but rather street magic. Card tricks, nothing up his sleeve, pulling a rabbit out of a hat, and especially anything that involved fire. The person who taught these tricks to him was a middle age woman by the name of Ivy, a witch.
Ivy; was the person that Branton grew the closest to, and overtime she ended becoming what filled the mother figure in his life. Having recognized the natural aptitude he processed for magic, and how quickly he mastered the forms taught to him Ivy began to consider showing him spellweaving, but she never did so until after the fall of glamour. Around his seventh birthday, the wall between the supernatural, and not had fallen. Realizing this, Ivy deduced that with her world revealed, that she should pass her knowledge onto him. That way he would have a way of protecting himself encase he found himself face-to-face with a vampire, werewolf or another magic user.
The following year went and came, and by the end of it Branton had become well verse in the three magics taught to him. Flametongue, Elemental Weapon and Windblast. However, with the new Hollowhill Grove act in place, Ivy choose to move to the city, where she could hasten the lessons, and skipped ahead toward mastering the three with some safely. Lengthening training and study sessions by hours, and waking up at sun raise was tough and gurgling work, but by May of 2015 Branton had mastered his spells. However, unbeknownst to Ivy, the side effects of magic were beginning to take their toll earlier than normal. Although small, the content use of Spellweaving mixed with the heatstroke he had years before were already affecting his sanity, if not a little bit.
Although, tragically, if not ironically as well, Ivy had been attacked shortly after he had mastered his abilities. It had happened when Ivy left him at home, and made a run to the store. On her way back, she had decided to try and take a short cut home through an alley. Thinking that no vampires, or werewolfs would attack during the day. And she was right. It was neither, but rather another human. One who had mastered the foul art of blood magic. Hiding in the shadows the female waited until Ivy's back was turned to her, and striked.
Now we come to the present, where Branton lives by himself within the city limits of Hollowhill Grove. Let's see what happens from here.
